Abstract

ENGLISH : Covid-19 prevention has an impact on the type of life of religious people. In ritual worship activities, religious adherents generally carry out ritual worship and religious lectures in their homes with a communication technology. But in West Java there are acts of service and protest from some religious people who seem different from the efforts to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic. These actions can be seen from two cases. The first case was the discovery of 226 Church of Bethel Churches in Bandung, which indicated a positive Corona after attending the Pastors Meeting. The second case was a protest by a number of Muslim followers with a reduction in the announcement of the banners containing the notice of not carrying out congregational prayers at the Great Mosque of Bandung. This paper aims to explain religious thought as the basis for acts of servants and protest actions of religious groups. To obtain this explanation, a descriptive method with the approach of Comparative Religion is used, which includes theological, sociological and phenomenological approaches. Information data obtained from digital media that can be accounted for. The results found that in the service actions of pastors meeting and “maklumat” banner protest actions there are subjective meaning of religion such as God's calling, religious mission, latent functions and legitimacy. In conclusion, subjective religious meaning is used as the basis for acts of service and religious protests during the Covid-19 prevention period in West Java.
