Talking Too Much is Not Good for Social Business
We often talk a lot, don’t do much. So, if there is a fly into our drink, we have to have a meeting first, what should we do about it. Other people might just throw it all away and then change the drink. Or just throw the fly away, and then drink the water. But our people must talk a lot first and not necessarily follow by action.
No Action
This story is not making it up. Many of us have seen that we talk more than we act. We see it in everyday life. If our children want to go somewhere, they will meet first and there will be a long dispute. Maybe we have a democratic character, so everything “must be discussed.” But democracy always demands a lot of unnecessary talking. We have forgotten the principle of ‘deliberation to reach consensus’. We need to argue, even though when we have debated, asked ourselves, do we really need to talk like that? We say, yes … we need to exist, we need to show that we exist, are smart, and so on. Then the decision is good? No, but that’s all, nothing further. Is it work? The answer is not really our business, and just like that.
As a result, our democracy does not give any progress and goodness to ourselves, except as a stage to show. And everyone is a ‘tiger.’ No, not that each of us is great, but that every one of us is a ‘talkative’ (talk much). There is a saying, “Your mouth is your tiger, your head is moving.” So because we talk a lot, our talk is like a tiger, which will move our own heads.
Do not believe? Try to find out how many of our words attack us. “We are not talking about people, actually …,” after that we are talking about people. “I am not gossiping, but …,” then making gossip. Then, we often say that other people are wrong, ugly, and so on. But we are also wrong, ugly, and so on. We also often talk A now, tomorrow we will talk B in the same problem.
But the above proverb is more horrifying than that. The context of the proverb shows that we can lose our heads — we will die — if we talk carelessly. This is indeed the extreme point of the habit of too much talking, so even more words. Moreover, these words are now written on social media, so there is a digital footprint.
Talk Only
Just talking course or talking only is bad. There will be nothing after talking. But that’s not all. We have to be frank to say that talking more than work is bad. Because our work is hindered by talking. Now, we see, which nation in the world is talking a lot, continues to be successful. Nothing, right? Japanese are quiet. English people don’t talk enough. But they are inventors and efficient people. No wonder if they rule the world.
Actually we don’t need to imitate anyone in this life. We ourselves already know. The proverb above teaches us not to talk too much because our speech can harm us. Because of insulting each other, we can kill each other. Because of our lies, our lives can be threatened. Are we aware that our lives are worthless these days? This is certainly related to the way and content we talk we say we’re ready to pay a monthly credit card, even though we can’t. And then, how is it? Debt collectors come, swear at us, and even threaten our lives.
Every day we are reported to have brawls between students, between villages, even between college students, between members of the Council. What actually happened? What needs to be fought for, so that we have to sacrifice our lives? What values do we exalt so that we have to stress and scratch each other, every day? Is it truth, justice, honesty, or just money, money, and money? Then what is the money for? For life and honor? If the purpose is indeed life and honor, should we realize it with just ‘money’ only?
Here we have to re-think, about what we are, who we are, what our life goals are, what our daily work is, how we pursue our ideals, how to make our work efficient. Etc.
