Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate and identify natural element and romantic reflection in Maleficent movie and novel. This research focused on two points: (1) To find out the portrayals of natural element which reflected Maleficent characters in movie and novel. (2) To find out natural elements reflect the romantic ideas in the movie and novel. Having collected data, the researcher analyzed this research by ways of identifying, categorizing, describing and interpreting, and drawing the conclusion to make the data one by one seems linked. To analyze this point, researcher used the theory Romanticism of Wordsworth (2014) and Comparative literature (1993). The researcher put the screenshot of movie first followed by the citation from novel. As the result of this research, researcher explained how the natural element portrays about Maleficent characters and reflected of romantic idea. Most of the portrayals and reflection of natural elements in movie and novel has similarities. The researcher found 10 natural element portrayals Maleficent characters and 10 natural element reflected romantic idea.
