Basically, people usually use a formal or standard language in formal context, but when people got into society, people usually use non-standard language. One of non-standard language which often used by the people is slang. In this paper, the researcher discusses about analysis of slang language in the Barbershop: The Next Cut movie script written by Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver released on April 15, 2016. This study aimed to answer two major research questions. Those were: (1) What are the literal and intentional meanings of slangs based on Griffths’s theory used in Barbershop: The Next Cut movie? (2) What are the categories of slang functions based on Widawski’s theory used in Barbershop: The Next Cut movie? The researcher used theory of Griffths (2006) to define the the literal and intentional meanings and theory of Widawski (2015) to determine the categories of slang functions. This research used qualitative method to answer two statement of problems and used content analysis as the research type. This research explained every slangs found in Barbershop: The Next Cut movie by using dictionaries and theory related about slang. There were found 83 slangs which in every slangs has literal and intentional meaning. The most dominant slang which appears in literal meaning refers to animal. While the most dominant slang which appears in in intentional meaning refers to gender. Furthermore, the researcher found 11 types of slang function which in every function has different amount, those are: 3 identification functions, 6 rebellion functions, 2 interaction function, 1 secrecy function, 6 emotions functions, 10 humor functions, 9 stylization functions, 10 conciseness functions, 10 forcefulness functions, 13 wordplay functions and 13 assimilation functions. Based on the results of the analysis, the most dominant slang which appears in literal meaning refers to animal, because basically the word formation of slangs often refers to the name of animal. While the most dominant slang which appears in intentional meaning refers to gender, because the context of the script is often talking about gender, whether talking about man or even woman. Then, the functions of slangs which is often found in the script is rhetorical function, such as 9 stylization functions, 10 conciseness functions, and 10 forcefulness functions. This happens because the slangs that appears in the movie script is often used to persuade in influincing people to agree with the speaker's point of view.
