Abstract

INDONESIA: Penelitian ini membahas tentang metode penerjemahan pada preposisi. Preposisi merupakan kata yang terlihat sederhana untuk diterjemahkakn, tapi sulit untuk menentukan kata mana yang sesuai, karena ada banyak pengertian dalam kamus. Bahkan penerjemah sering keluar dari pengertian yang ada di kamus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana penerjemahan preposisi yang dikategorikan menjadi simpel dan kompleks. Dan menemukan apa saja metode yang digunakan oleh penerjemah pada preposisi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan data dokumentasi untuk diterapkan dalam teknik pengumpulan data. Dan menggunakan metode perbandingan tetap karya Glaser dan Strauss dengan empat cara yaitu data reduksi, data kategorisasi, data sintesisasi, dan hipotesis. Hasil dari penelitian ini ialah si penerjemah menggunakan empat metode penerjemahan preposisi, yaitu penerjemahan harfiah, penerjemahan semantik, penerjemahan bebas dan penerjemahan komunikatif. Yang paling sering digunakan oleh penerjemah adalah metode penerjemahan harfiah. Dalam penelitian kali ini ridak ditemukannya penerjemahan word-for-word dikarenakan preposisi itu memiliki banyak arti dalam kamus, sehingga dengan banyaknya arti tersebut, penerjemah sudah melalui proses penerjemahan dengan memilih kata mana yang sesuai untuk kalimat tersebut. Ada banyak jenis kata preposisi. Peneliti membaginya menjadi dua bagian, yaitu preposisi simpel dan kompleks (Randolph Quirk, 1985). Yang sering ditemukan dalam novel itu ialah preposisi simpel, karena preposisi simpel lebih mudah ditemukan di novel tersebut.  ENGLISH: This research tells about translation method of preposition. Preposition is the word that simple to translated, but it is complicate to find the good word, becuase there are so many meaning in dictionary. Even the translator is not always get the meaning from dictionary. This purpose of research is analysing the translation of simple and complex preposition used in “J.D. Salinger’s Novel The Catcher in The Rye. And to find out the kinds of translation methods in translating of simple and comlex preposition on it. The method of research uses descriptive qualitative method. Technique of collecting data, the researcher uses documentation. Technique of analyzing data, the researcher uses constant comparative method by Glaser and Strauss with four steps are data reduction, data categorisation, data synthesisation and hypothesis. The result of research is translator use four translation method of preposition. There are literal translation, semantic translation, free translation and communicative translation. mostly translator uses literal translation. Preposition has many meaning in dictionary, that’s why there are no word-for-word because researcher things that translator is process the translation of preposition. There are many kinds of preposition. The researcher dividing become two parts, are simple and complex (Randolph Quirk,1985). Simple preposition mostly available than complex in the novel. Because simple preposition is easy to find in the novel.
