Abstract

ENGLISH : This research intends to portrait the woman in Ariana Grande’s Sweetener album. The object taken for this research is Sweetener album by Ariana Grande that contain 15 songs. The problem statement in this research is there are many women who still think that women will not to be able to be in the same position as men they are still trapped in the concept of partriarchy. Therefore the researcher took the research questoions from the problem study are (1) How is the portrayal of woman presented by Ariana Grande in her Sweetener album? (2) How is the portrayal of woman reflected in Ariana Grande’s Sweetener album? This research used literary criticism as the grand design and feminist theory Ecriture Feminine (woman writing) by Helene Cixous to describe the portrayal of woman in Ariana Grande’s Sweetener album. The data used by researchers in this research is Sweetener album by Ariana Grande that include 15 songs there are: raindrops, balze, the light is coming, r.e.m, God is a woman, sweetener succesful, everytime, breathin, no tears left to cry, borderline, better off, goodnight and go, Pete Davidson, and get well soon. In this research the 15 songs will be disstected one by one to find the feminist lyrics in every song. The result of the study are: First is the way Ariana Grande presented this portrayal of women in her Sweetener album as a feminist movement by use writing as a media and the second is the portrayal of woman reflacted in Ariana Grande Sweetener, wich mean about the portrayal of woman here such as independent successful woman, sexual female empowerment, women’s struggle, and love life of being a modern woman. Based on the result of the research, it can be drawn a conclussion that the singer Ariana Grande want the the world know that her album as a media for woman empowerment or feminist movement. INDONESIA : Penelitian ini meneliti potret wanita didalam album Sweetener Ariana Grande. Objek yang diambil untuk penelitian ini adalah album Sweetener karya Ariana Grande yang berisi 15 lagu. Pernyataan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah masih ada banyak perempuan yang berpikir bahwa perempuan tidak akan mampu berada di posisi yang sama dengan laki-laki mereka masih terjebak dalam konsep partriarki. Oleh karena itu peneliti mengambil pertanyaan penelitian dari studi masalah adalah (1) Bagaimana penggambaran wanita yang disajikan oleh Ariana Grande di album Pemanisnya? (2) Bagaimana penggambaran wanita tercermin dalam album Sweetener Ariana Grande? Penelitian ini menggunakan kritik sastra sebagai grand design dan teori feminis Ecriture Feminine (women writing) oleh Helene Cixous untuk menggambarkan potret wanita dalam album Ariana Grande's Sweetener. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: Pertama, dapat mengetahui bagaimana cara Ariana Grande mempresentasikan potret wanita dalam album Sweetener-nya dengan menggunakan tulisan sebagai media, dan yang kedua mengindentifikasi refleksi potret wanita yang dikategorikan seperti wanita sukses yang mandiri, pemberdayaan wanita tentang hal seksual, perjuangan wanita, dan kehidupan cinta sebagai seorang wanita modern dalam albumSweetener karya Ariana Grande. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa penyanyi Ariana Grande ingin dunia tahu bahwa albumnya sebagai media pemberdayaan wanita atau gerakan feminis.
