Abstract

ENGLISH : Myths can appear in all aspects, including the Instagram quotes of Rupi Kaur. She is a Canadian poet known as “Instapoet” because of the fame she got from her post of quotes on social media, with Instagram as the main container. The quote is a message that she quoted from her own books. Therefore, the researcher is interested in conducting this research. The purpose of this research is to find out the myths of life that exist in the quotes of Rupi Kaur through the signifier, signified and sign (relationship of signifier and signified). The researcher used Roland Barthes’s theory of “Myth today” which is the second level of semiology to find out the myths through the signifier, signified and the relation of signifier and signified on the quotes of Rupi Kaur. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The researcher took the data from Rupi Kaur’s Instagram account (@rupikaur_) in the form of photos which are quotes containing words and images. The researcher took as much as 25 data using purposive sampling techniques. Based on the analysis of the data that has been done, it is concluded that there are various myths about life that appear in Rupi Kaur’s Instagram quotes. Overall, this myth illustrates the real life situation that occurs in everyday human life. With the quotes that contain myths, the readers seem to feel that the quotes are indeed true and experienced by some people who might be feeling it. Therefore, the myth appears in these quotes. INDONESIA : Mitos dapat muncul dalam segala aspek termasuk pada quotes instagram Rupi Kaur. Dia merupakan seorang penyair asal Kanada yang dikenal sebagai instapoet karena ketenaran yang Ia dapatkan dari postingan quotesnya di media social, dengan Instagram sebagai wadah utama. Quotes tersebut berupa sebuah pesan yang ia kutip dari bukunya sendiri. Oleh karena itu, Peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menemukan mitos tentang kehidupan yang ada pada quotes Rupi Kaur melalui penanda, petanda dan tanda (hubungan antara signifier dan signified). Peneliti menggunakan teori Roland Barthes tentang “Mitos Masa Kini” yang merupakan semiologi tingkat kedua untuk menemukan mitos melalui identifikasi penanda, petanda dan hubungan antara penanda dan petanda dalam kutipan Rupi Kaur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Peneliti mengambil data dari akun Instagram Rupi Kaur (@rupikaur_) berupa foto yang merupakan quotes berisi kata-kata dan gambar. Peneliti mengambil data sebanyak 25 data dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan analisa data yang dilakukan, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa ada berbagai mitos tentang kehidupan yang muncul pada quotes Instagram Rupi Kaur. Secara keseluruhan, mitos ini menggambarkan situasi kehidupan yang sebenarnya terjadi dalam kehidupan manusia sehari-hari. Dengan munculnya mitos dalam quotes tersebut, para pembaca seolah-olah mempercayai bahwa kutipan tersebut benar dan dialami oleh beberapa orang yang mungkin merasakannya. Oleh karena itu, muncul mitos pada quotes tersebut.
