Abstract

This research entitled Asking Speech Act in Characters of Russo Brothers's Avengers: Infinity War 2018. The objectives of this study are to describe the forms of asking and to describe the function of asking used by the characters in Avengers: Infinity War movie. The research design use qualitative method. qualitative method use to find some information. This method focus with the quality of information that found and use it to gain the understanding of something. The data used in this research taken from the conversation in the movie. The first step is that the researcher downloads the movie of Avengers: Infinity War. Then, the second is classifying the data source into some categories based on the form of question. The researcher finds 4 Forms of question shown by the characters in the Avengers Infinity War Movie. There are, 20 data belong to wh-word question, 18 data belong to auxiliary verb question, 9 data belong to modal verb question, and 3 data belong to question tags. The amount totals of data are 50. The researcher found 7 functions of asking shown by the characters in the Avengers Infinity War Movie. There are 6 data belong to asking for action, 22 data belong to seeking information, 3 data belong to confirming,, 1 data belong to asking for commitment, 17 data belong to clarifying, 1 data belong to repeating and no data found on agreement. Penelitian ini berjudul Asking Speech Act dalam Film Karakter Avengers: Infinity War 2018 yang Disutradarai oleh Russo Brothers. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk bertanya dan mendeskripsikan fungsi bertanya yang digunakan oleh para karakter dalam film Avengers: Infinity War. Desain penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif. Metode kualitatif digunakan untuk mencari informasi. Metode ini menitikberatkan pada kualitas informasi yang ditemukan dan digunakan untuk memperoleh pemahaman tentang sesuatu. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diambil dari percakapan dalam film. Langkah pertama adalah peneliti mengunduh film Avengers: Infinity War. Kemudian yang kedua adalah mengelompokkan sumber data menjadi beberapa kategori berdasarkan bentuk pertanyaan. Peneliti menemukan 4 Bentuk pertanyaan yang diperlihatkan oleh karakter-karakter dalam Avengers Infinity War Movie. Ada, 20 data milik pertanyaan wh-word, 18 data milik pertanyaan kata kerja bantu, 9 data milik pertanyaan kata kerja modal, dan 3 data milik pertanyaan tag. Jumlah total datanya adalah 50. Peneliti menemukan 7 fungsi tanya yang ditampilkan oleh karakter-karakter dalam Avengers Infinity War Movie. Ada 6 data termasuk meminta tindakan, 22 data termasuk mencari informasi, 3 data termasuk konfirmasi, 1 data Termasuk meminta komitmen, 17 data bersifat klarifikasi, 1 data tergolong pengulangan, tidak ada data persetujuan,
