Abstract
In the daily life, people usually use more than one of kinds of language. The using of those kinds of language is adapted with the situation, they use standard language manner, on the contrary on informal situation they use the kinds of language such as colloquial or slang. In the conversation, both in daily and movie conversation, slang terms are available. In the three movies title “The Transformers”, “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen”, And “Transformers: Dark Of The Moon”, such slang exist. This paper aims to find out the kinds of slang as well as explore their function. Qualitative research method is used as the method of study, by using Allan and Burridge’s theory of slang as the reference for analyzing the data. The finding shows that from 279 data, the kinds of slang in the three Transformers Movies are categorized as Fresh and Creative, Flippant, Immitative, Acronym, and Clipping. Meanwhile there are four functions of the slang used, they are : Informative function, expressive function, directive function, and phatic function.
