Abstract

In this research, researcher are used two literary works, that is Film Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lighning Thief 2010, and film Aquaman 2018. In this research, the researcher found several similarities between the two literary works, such as narrative, conflict, and character. The demigod character is a topic in this research. Then, the researcher formulated the problem in this study (1) What are the factors that cause which make the main characters to becoming demigods in the films Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Aquaman, (2) How are the exposition of the main characters in the films Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Aquaman. The purposes of this research is to (1) To find out the factors that cause which make the main characters to becoming demigods in the films Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Aquaman. (2) To describe the exposition of the main characters in the films Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Aquaman. The researcher has a stage to answer questions in both literary works that is selecting literary works, watching literary works, identifying in each literary work narrative, and then comparing literary elements to determine the factors and know the differences in exposition. This type of research is a qualitative approach, and the method used by researcher is comparative literature by Bassnett and Damono. The results of this research show that there are the factors that causes literary work are similar in their narrative, and there are several similarities, that is (1) Offspring, (2) Strength, (3) Protector, (4) Crime. The researcher also found differences in exposition between the two literary works that is the plot. Film Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief has a forward plot, while the film Aquaman has a mixed plot.
