Abstract

ENGLISH : This study aims to find out the kind of social deixis, a language phenomenon that cannot be avoided in real life, and to describe the function of social deixis found in The Final Interview with the Obamas. The problem of this research is formulated in two research questions: what kind of social deixis found in "The Final Interview with the Obamas" and what is the function of the social deixis found in "The Final Interview with the Obamas." The data are analyzed in a qualitative descriptive method by using Levinson’s theory in pragmatics. The result of this research shows that from 36 data found in “The Final Interview of The Obamas”, there are 24 data that classified into the relational social deixis. It consists of 5 social deixis expressions that are included to the speaker and referent, 2 data of speaker and addressee, 16 data of speaker and bystander, and 1 data of speaker and setting social deixis. Moreover, there are 12 data of absolute social deixis that are found in the object of research. It consists of 2 data of authorized speaker, and 10 data of authorized recipient absolute social deixis. Furthermore, the second finding shows that the three functions of social deixis are also found in the utterances in The Final Interview with The Obamas. Those are indicated as 5 data of a social status differentiation function, 20 data of a politeness function, and 11 data of a social identity function of social deixis. INDONESIA : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis deiksis sosial yang merupakan sebuah fenomena bahasa yang tidak dapat dihindari dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, dan juga untuk mendeskripsikan fungsi deiksis sosial yang terdapat dalam The Final Interview with the Obamas. Masalah penelitian ini dirumuskan dalam dua pertanyaan penelitian: apa saja jenis deiksis sosial yang ditemukan dalam The Final Interview with the Obamas dan apa saja fungsi dari deixis sosial yang ditemukan dalam The Final Interview with the Obamas. Data dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teori Levinson mengenai Pragmatik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 36 data yang ditemukan dalam The Final Interview of The Obamas, terdapat 24 data yang diklasifikasikan ke dalam deiksis sosial relasional. Hasil tersebut terdiri dari 5 ekspresi deiksis sosial yang meliputi penutur dan rujukan, 2 data penutur dan penerima, 16 data penutur dan pengamat, dan 1 data penutur dan deiksis sosial setting. Selain itu, terdapat 12 data deiksis sosial mutlak yang ditemukan dalam objek penelitian. Terdiri dari 2 data penutur sah, dan 10 data deiksis sosial mutlak penerima kuasa. Selanjutnya, penemuan kedua menunjukkan bahwa ketiga fungsi deiksis sosial juga ditemukan pada tuturan-tuturan dalam The Final Interview with The Obamas. Terindikasi 5 data sebagai fungsi pembeda status sosial, 20 data sebagai fungsi kesantunan, dan 11 data sebagai fungsi identitas sosial.
