Abstract

ENGLISH : This study conducts the structural analysis of the female main character and characterization in Laksmi Pamuntjak’s Amba Novel and James Cameron’s Titanic Movie. The research objectives of this study are to: (1) Analysis the representation of the female main character and characterization in Laksmi Pamuntjak’s Amba Novel and James Cameron’s Titanic Movie. (2) Analysis the similarities and differences of the female main character (includes of self-image and social image) in Laksmi Pamuntjak’s Amba Novel and James Cameron’s Titanic Movie. The researcher used these objects as two literary works contain the struggles of a woman in the inequality issues of the male supremacy. Through the qualitative approach, the researcher conducted the study in-depth and used a comparative descriptive method and documentation study as the technique of collecting data. Based on the results of this comparative analysis, the researcher obtained 74 data of the representation female main character and characterization in Laksmi Pamuntjak’s Amba Novel in physical aspects (15 data), psychological aspects (31 data), and social image of woman in family and society (28 data). While in James Cameron’s Titanic movie there (51 data) obtained about the character of the female main figure, includes of the physical aspects (13 data), psychological aspects (24 data), and social image of woman (11 data). In addition, the results of this study obtained (22 data) about descriptions of the similarities of female main character (15 data) in self-image and (7 data) social image, and (11 data) about differences of character and characterization in both literary works impacts by many factors such as economics, education, family, social, language, culture, nationality, and etc. INDONESIA : ada penelitian sastra bandingan ini, peneliti mengkaji analisis structural tokoh utama wanita pada novel Amba Karya Laksmi Pamuntjak dan film Titanic karya James Cameron. Tujuan dari penelitian ini antara lain untuk mendeskripsikan : (1) Analisis represesntasi tokoh utama wanita dalam novel Amba karya Laksmi Pamuntjak dan film Titanic karya James Cameron, (2) Analisis persamaan dan perbedaan tokoh utama wanita (citra diri wanita dan citra social wanita) pada novel Amba karya Laksmi Pamuntjak dan film Titanic karya James Cameron. Alasan peneliti menggunakan objek penelitian ini karena kedua objek tersebut berisi tentang perjuangan wanita yang berada pada ketidakseimbangan isu supremasi laki-laki. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif, penelitian ini menganalisis kajian secara mendalam dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif komparatif dan dokumentasi studi sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Berdasarkan hasil analisis pada kajian sastra bandingan ini, peneliti memperoleh 74 data mengenai representasi karakter dan karakterisasi tokoh utama wanita pada novel Amba karya Laksmi Pamuntjak dalam aspek fisik (15 data), aspek psikis (31 data), citra social wanita dalam keluarga dan masyarakat (28 data). Sementara pada film Titanic karya James Cameron terdapat (51 data) yang diperoleh tentang karakter tokoh utama wanita, termasuk kedalam aspek fisik (13 data), aspek psikis (24 data), dan citra diri wanita (11 data). Selain itu, diperoleh hasil analisis berupa (22 data) mengenai dekripsi persamaan karakter tokoh utama wanita (15 data) dalam citra diri dan (7 data) citra sosial, dan (11 data) mengenai perbedaan karakter dan karakterisasi tokoh utama wanita pada kedua karya sastra tersebut yang dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, seperti faktor ekonomi,oendidikan, keluarga, sosial, bahasa, budaya, kenegaraan, dan lain sebagainya.
