Abstract
This study aims to determine students' responses to the use of radio news in learning English listening. Specifically, this research is intended to achieve the following objectives: 1). How is the process of using English radio news in online listening lesson? 2). What are the students' responses towards the use of English radio news in online listening lesson? This study uses a qualitative descriptive design, especially a case study. There are 30 students of class XI majoring in office administration from the Bandung National Vocational School for the 2021/2022 academic year. Researchers used observations, questionnaires and interviews to determine the learning process using audio radio news in online listening kesson. Then questionnaires and interviews to find out student responses after learning listening using audio radio news. The research findings show that first, regarding the process of using English radio news in online listening lessons to explore students' listening skills, it is carried out with listening teaching procedures which are divided into three stages, namely; pre-listening, while-listening, post-listening. Second, regarding students' responses to listening to audio radio news, this finding shows that based on the results of questionnaires and interviews, radio news has a positive effect on listening lessons. It is proven that the results of the students' questionnaires show that listening learning using radio news media in English lessons is useful. In conclusion, this study shows that the use of radio news in online listening lessons to explore listening skills and find out student responses to the use of radio news is appropriate because it is useful in increasing new vocabulary, increasing student experience in online classes, independent learning in the future, as well as in pronunciation. Then, this research is recommended to be applied for those who want to improve their listening skills, especially improving new words and other different focuses.
