Abstract
Every human being has an inner personality that cannot be valued from an outside view. Persona is the public image of an individual. The original word means mask. It is the product of social adaptation, which plays an important role in society. Shadow is the inner side of an individual It exists and is composed of repressed thoughts, instincts, and desire. This research is aimed to find out persona and shadow portrayed by the main character Arthur Fleck in Joker (2019) using Carl Jung's theory analytical psychology Jungian archetypes through narrative and mise-en-scène approach. Qualitative research mainly focuses on people experiences while recognizing the individual's uniqueness. Through a qualitative method, researchers can recognize subjects, feel what the subject is experiencing in everyday life. As a result, persona Arthur Fleck as a manifestation of society world was suppressed and destroyed by society world. Shadow archetype that symbolizes darkness thought and action emerges the wholeness of the main character Arthur Fleck. He wears a mask to become more than he is, an idea, a force, purpose bringing justice to the world, becoming nihilism, transforming him from good to evil towards the outside world.
