Abstract

This study aims to uncover social phenomena about the practices of the Living Quran which are used as a method to strengthen the character of santri after the tahfidz. This research is a field research while the approach taken is a qualitative descriptive approach. This research was conducted at the Post-Tahfisdzh Islamic Boarding School Byt Al-Quran Pondok Cabe. Data is obtained through a series of observation processes, interviews and documentation. The results of his research are the strengthening of santri based Quran living characters after tahfidzh held at the Bayt al-Quran Islamic boarding school including the following:First, living the Quran which is present in the post-Islamic tradition is not at the ceremonial, normative, transactional, mystical and aesthetic level. Second, living Quran among santri after the tahfidzemerged at the external stage of the values of the Koran, the implementation of the values of the Koran in the attitude of life after there was an objectivation of the verses of the Koran through the long process they had done in memorizing verse the verse.Third, the hafidz positioned themselves as a medium for maintaining the Koran on earth. They prefer to take on the role of those who devote themselves to being servants of the Koran. What the Qur'an recalls and forbids makes them feel obliged to fulfill all directions (al-Quran). Fourth, the strengthening of the character of the santri after the tahfidzh based on the living quran in essence emerged as an awareness of the need to maintain the Koran both from the text and the context in everyday life, especially for those who have offered themselves to be memorizers of the Quran. In the method of strengthening the character of santri in the Islamic Boarding School the Al-Quran has a curriculum that has been designed in such a way as the Koran as a center of approach (center of all approaches). substantively living quran appears in the practices of the daily lives of santris both internally within the santri and within a wider range of interactions in social life. The manifestation is not just the living text of the Quran, but living the context of the Koran which is identified through "meaning and values" (meaning and values). The values of the Koran manifested through several models of approaches to the meaning of those values, namely: living Quran, living skills to survive, living skills to living Quran
