Abstract

Peliputan berita kriminal mewajibkan wartawan untuk tunduk pada kode etik jurnalistik. Dalam salah satu pasal kode etik tersebut menyebutkan bahwa wartawan menerapkan asas praduga tak bersalah dalam proses peliputan berita. Asas praduga tak bersalah merupakan peraturan untuk tidak menghakimi seseorang yang dianggap bersalah hingga munculnya putusan resmi dari pengadilan. Penggunaan asas praduga tak bersalah dapat menghindarkan adanya penghakiman oleh pers. Penghakiman oleh media dapat berdampak buruk bagi tersangka ataupun keluarganya. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, peneliti tertarik untuk mengangkat tema penelitian mengenai asas praduga tak bersalah dalam peliputan rubrik Galacrime di Gaamedianews.com. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebijakan redaksional Galamedianews.com dalam peliputan berita untuk rubrik Galacrime, pemaknaan asas praduga tak bersalah dalam peliputan berita pada rubrik Galacrime oleh wartawan Galamedianews.com, dan penerapan asas praduga tak bersalah dalam peliputan berita pada rubrik Galacrime oleh wartawan Galamedianews.com. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah konstruksi realitas sosial dimana realitas didapatkan dari hasil manusia berpikir secara kreatif dengan kekuatan konstruksi sosial pada dunia sosial yang berada di sekitarnya. Teori tersebut terdiri dari tiga proses yaitu eksternalisasi, objektivasi, dan internalisasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan melakukan wawancara dan dokumentasi hasil berita di rubrik Galacrime pada Galamedianews.com. pemilihan metode ini untuk memudahkan peneliti mendeskripsikan informasi hasil temuan yang didapatkan di lapangan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa: Pertama, terdapat kebijakan redaksional Galamedianews.com dalam peliputan berita pada rubrik Galacrime yaitu dengan pemberian materi tentang jurnalistik kepada calon wartawan, pembinaan wartawan, dan melakukan evaluasi terhadap kinerja wartawan. Kedua, wartawan Galamedianews.com telah memaknai asas praduga tak bersalah dengan menerapkannya dalam proses peliputan berita untuk rubrik Galacrime. Ketiga, wartawan Galamedianews.com telah menerapkan asas praduga tak bersalah dalam proses peliputan berita khususnya pada rubrik Galacrime dengan urgensi untuk menghormati hak seseorang saat menjalani proses pengadilan, menaati kode etik jurnalistik, dan menghindari adanya trial by press atau penghakiman oleh media. GHINA AMELIA: Presumption of Innocence in Online Media Coverage (Galacrime Rubric on Galamedianews.com Study Case) The covering of criminal news requires the journalists to obey the journalism code ethics. One of the articles from the code of ethics mentions that journalists have implemented the presumption of innocence to the process of news coverage. Presumption of innocence is a rule not to judge someone considered guilty until the court releases the verdict. The usage of the principle of presumption of innocence can avoid judgment by the press. Judgment by the media can harm the suspect or his family. Hence, the researcher is interested in a study theme regarding the principle of presumption of innocence in the coverage on the Galacrime rubric at Galamedianews.com. This study aims to determine the editorial policy of Galamedianews.com in news coverage for the Galacrime rubric, the purpose of the presumption of innocence in news coverage on the Galacrime rubric by journalists Galamedianews.com, and the implementation from the principle of presumption of innocence in news coverage on the Galacrime rubric by journalists from Galamedianews.com. The theory used in this study is the social reality constructions, whereas the individual's creative thinking obtains reality with the power of social construction from the social environment surrounding them. The theory consists of three processes; there are; externalization, objectivation, and internalization. The method used is the descriptive method by conducting interviews and documenting the news in the Galacrime rubric on Galamedianews.com. The selection of this method makes it easier for the researcher to describe information based on the results obtained in the field. The results of this study indicate that: First, there is an editorial policy of Galamedianews.com in news coverage on the Galacrime rubric, which provides material about journalism to prospective journalists, fostering journalists, and evaluating the performance of journalists. Second, the journalists from Galamedianews.com have interpreted the principle of presumption of innocence by applying it in the news reporting process for the Galacrime rubric. Third, Galamedianews.com journalists have applied the principle of presumption of innocence in the news reporting process, especially on the Galacrime rubric with the urgency to respect a person's rights when undergoing a court process, obey the journalistic code of ethics, and avoid any trial by press or judgment by the media.
