Abstract

This thesis entitled “Transitivity Analysis in Wikileaks release: Trident Whistleblower Nuclear’Disaster Waiting to Happen” has two aims. First, it is aspired at ascertaining the cases of process and participant calculated by the transitivity analysis upon the texts, second it is aspired at ascertaining the wikileaks political orientation excogitated on that transitivity analysis upon the texts. The researcher decides this research since both texts politically bring out dissimilar opinions about unregistered trident’s crews. The aims of this study are two article ennobled “Worse than irrelevan?” from William McNeilly’s article, and “Nuclear Reason: At the Limits of Strategy” from Rif Winfield’s article. Both equaled downloaded from Wikileaks’s internet site. The method of this study is a qualitative one. Both data were accumulated by reading both texts and sectioning them into clauses. The researcher then acquitted transitivity analysis to lick the types of processes and participants in the texts. Adjacent, the researcher enquired the approach pattern of transitivity that retraces political orientation. From the ensue of data analysis of two articles with total of clause which 94 clauses inward the 1st article, and 97 clauses inward the two article, it is acquired ensue that there are six sort of process inward the data namely material, mental, verbal, relational, existential and behavioral. None ascertained the process type of meteorological in the data. The two articles have the monotony of transitivity arrangement with material process equally the most ascendent process in the two articles. Furthermore, the ensue analysis of transitivity system applied equally anticipation instrument to delineate the WikiLeaks’s political orientation inward each articles. From the analysis, it can be resolved that the highest percentage of process in both articles is material process. Nevertheless, the assigning of participants in McNeilly’ article is contrary to the ones in Winfield. In Winfield’ article, unregistered trident’ crews are depicted equally dupe and are ascribed positively. Whereas inward McNeillys’ article, unregistered trident’ crews are depicted equally bad hat and are ascribed negatively. This displays that ideologically, Winfield’ article with its liberal bias deficiencies its readers to abide the passage of nuclear reclaim (pro-trident’s crews). Whereas McNeilly’s article with its conservative oblique deficiencies its readers to be against the passage of nuclear reclaim (anti-trident’s crews).
