Abstract
Morphology is a branch of linguistics that analyzes word structure and word formation. Word formation in morphology learns about compound word. Compound word is a word that consists of two or more words and it is become new word and it has meaning. The research is purposed to identify kinds of compound word and to find out the categories of compound words in Daily Vocabulary book. The researcher uses theory of Bauer (1983) to analyze the kinds of compound word and theory of McCarthy (2002) to analyze the categories of compound word. The researcher uses qualitative descriptive research method in writing this research paper since the data collected is in the form of words rather than numbers and it is more corcerned with process. In this research, the researcher found thirty (30) endocentric compounds and thirteen (13) exocentric compound words. In summary, kind of compound words mostly found is endocentric compound. The categories of compound words found in Daily Vocabulary Book I & II are ten compound verbs, four compound adjectives, and twenty six compound nouns. Mostly, the category of compound words that is found in Daily Vocabulary Book I & II is compound nouns.
