Abstract
ENGLISH : For communication to be smooth, we must find out the meaning of the speaker and interlocutor messages that have not to run from the context. The message is not only conveyed in conversation, poetry, or other media. It is also in the song lyrics. To analyze song lyrics, the researcher focuses on contextual word meaning theory. This research is used Alessia Cara’s song lyrics in the album “Knew-It-All” as the object. The researcher has two research questions, (1) What contexts are used in Alessia Cara’s song lyrics of the “Knew-It-All” album? (2) How is the contextual word meaning in Alessia Cara’s song lyrics of the “Knew-It-All” album describe? This research focused on finding out the contexts used in Alessia Cara’s song lyrics of the “Knew-It-All” album and describing the contextual word meaning in Alessia Cara’s song lyrics of the “Knew-It-All” album. The researcher will use contextual word meaning theory and the contexts using Dash’s theory (2005). This research use in qualitative document analysis that is descriptive research because it focuses on describing the contextual word meaning includes descriptions of events, participants, actions, and situations. There are 31 data that have applied local context, sentential context, and topical context. The global context is not applied to all data because the KW meaning has been found in the topical context. INDONESIA : Agar komunikasi lancar, kita harus mengetahui makna pesan pembicara dan lawan bicara, agar tidak lari dari konteks. Pesan tidak hanya disampaikan dalam percakapan, puisi, atau media lainnya. Itu juga ada di lirik lagu. Untuk menganalisis lirik lagu, peneliti berfokus pada teori makna kata kontekstual. Penelitian ini menggunakan lirik lagu Alessia Cara dalam album “Knew-It-All” sebagai objeknya. Peneliti memiliki dua pertanyaan penelitian, (1) Konteks apa yang digunakan dalam lirik lagu Alessia Cara dari album “Knew-It-All”? (2) Bagaimana makna kata kontekstual dalam lirik lagu Alessia Cara dari album “Knew-It-All” digambarkan? Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk menemukan konteks yang digunakan dan mendeskripsikan makna kata kontekstual dalam lirik lagu Alessia Cara dari album “Knew-It-All”. Peneliti akan menggunakan teori makna kata kontekstual dan konteks menggunakan teori Dash (2005). Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis dokumen kualitatif yaitu penelitian deskriptif karena berfokus pada pendeskripsian makna kata kontekstual meliputi deskripsi peristiwa, partisipan, tindakan, dan situasi. Terdapat 31 data yang telah menerapkan konteks lokal, konteks sentensial, dan konteks topikal. Konteks global tidak berlaku untuk semua data karena makna KW telah ditemukan dalam konteks topikal.
