Abstract

INDONESIA : Perkembangan industri tekstil di Indonesia menyebabkan permasalahan cemaran limbah zat warna semakin meningkat. Salah satu cara efektif menanganinya adalah dengan fotokatalis. Telah dilakukan sintesis komposit ZnO/AC dengan metode presipitasi. Bahan ZnO diperoleh dari sintesis seng asetat dihidrat yang dilarutkan kemudian diendapkan oleh asam oksalat, sedangkan karbon aktif (AC) menggunakan bahan komersial. Komposit ZnO/AC ini disintesis bertujuan untuk menurunkan intesitas zat warna metilen biru. Komposit ZnO/AC disintesis pada perbandingan mol ZnO:AC 1:8, 1:4, 1:1, 4:1, dan 8:1. Hasil karakterisasi XRD menunjukan bahwa fasa kristal dari ZnO memiliki bentuk wurtzite (fase heksagonal) sedangkan AC memiliki bentuk amorf. Hasil karakterisasi SEM menunjukan bahwa bentuk berupa bongkahan dengan ukuran yang tidak seragam dan terdapat aglomerasi partikel. Komposit ZnO/AC hasil sintesis dapat menurukan intensitas zat warna metilen biru dengan menggunakan sinar tampak. Aplikasi komposit ZnO/AC terhadap dekolorisasi metilen biru dilakukan variasi komposit, variasi waktu penyinaran, variasi massa komposit, dan variasi konsentrasi larutan. Persen dekolorisasi optimum yang diperoleh setelah dilakukan proses fotokalisis pada larutan metilen biru yaitu 88,54% menggunakan komposit 8:1 sebanyak 30 mg terhadap 20 mL pada larutan metilen biru 10 ppm. ENGLISH : The development of the textile industry in Indonesia causes the problem of dye waste contamination to increase. One of the effective ways to handle it is with a photocatalyst. The synthesis of ZnO / AC composites using the precipitation method has been carried out. ZnO material is obtained from the synthesis of zinc acetate dihydrate which is dissolved and then precipitated by oxalic acid, while activated carbon (AC) uses commercial materials. This ZnO / AC composite was synthesized to reduce the intensity of the methylene blue dye. ZnO / AC composites were synthesized at ZnO: AC mole ratios of 1: 8, 1: 4, 1: 1, 4: 1, and 8: 1. The XRD characterization results show that the crystal phase of ZnO has a wurtzite form (hexagonal phase) while AC has an amorphous form. SEM characterization results show that the shape is in the form of chunks with non-uniform sizes and there is particle agglomeration. The synthesized ZnO / AC composite can reduce the intensity of the methylene blue dye using visible light. The application of ZnO / AC composites to decolorization of methylene blue was carried out by variations in composites, variations in exposure time, variations in mass of composites, and variations in solution concentration. The optimum percentage of decolorization obtained after the photocalysis process in methylene blue solution was 88.54% using 30 mg 8: 1 composite against 20 mL in 10 ppm methylene blue solution.
