Abstract

Jangari reservoir is one of the edges of Cirata reservoir located in west Java. Water quality degradation continues at Jangari reservoir which causes environmental problems. Jangari reservoir is one of the sources of community income by means of fish cultivation and tourism, so research on water quality is important so that the reservoir remains sustainable and productive. Evaluation of water quality can be done by determining the trophic status of the water. Phytoplankton community can be used as bioindicator for evaluation of trophic status, so this study aims to determine the Jangari reservoir trophic status using phytoplankton and combined with the physical and chemical properties of water. The method used is purposive sampling by determining three stations based on differences in the intensity of cultivation and tourism. The physical and chemical parameters tested included water temperature, brightness, salinity, DO, pH, Total Nitrogen (TN), and Total Phosphorus (TP). The data analysis consisted of phytoplankton community structure and calculation of the value Trophic Level Index (TLI). The results showed that there are 24 genus and 10 classes of phytoplankton was found, consisting of Bacillariophyceae (3 genus), Chlorophyceae (7 genus), Cyanophyceae (1 genus), Dinophyceae (2 genus), Euglenophyceae (1 genus), Mediophyceae (2 genus), Trebouxiophyceae (3 genus), Ulvophyceae (1 genus), Xanthophyceae (1 genus), and Zygnematophyceae (3 genus). The highest phytoplankton abudance was 2,896 ind/L. The value of the TLI ranged from 4.34 to 4.58. Based on observations, Jangari reservoir has a trophic status that is classified as mesotrophic to eutrophic.
