Abstract

K.H. Ahmad Dahlan was a national hero of Indonesia born in an area called Kauman, Yogyakarta on August 1, 1868. Ever since young, k.H Ahmad Dahlan has been eager to preach. He completed his pilgrimage when he was only 15 years old and settled in the city of Mecca for 5 years K.H. Ahmad Dahlan is a brilliant man. With the youthful vigor of islamic thought that brilliant thinking brings peoples and insights into modern insights, from feudal insights into populist insights and from village views (bedouin) to urban insights (madani). This is the result of being in contact with middle eastern islamic thinkers at the time, such as; Ibn Taimiyah, Jamaluddin al-Afgani, Muhammad Abduh, Rasyid Ridha, and so on (Hamzah, 1980). This colored his reflection and strong religious atmosphere, Kyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan was born in Kauman, Yogyakarta, August 1, 1868, an Indonesian national hero. He is the fourth son of seven sons of the house of k.H. Bakr.
