Abstract
Sticker is a collaboration between emojis and words. Stickers are mostly used in WhatsApp applications. A lot of are misleading in interpreting the meaning of WhatsApp stickers. This research aims to find what to analyze what icons, indexes and symbols of funny sticker in WhatsApp Messenger are. This research is using a semiotic study with Charles Sanders Peirce's theory by focusing on three kinds of signs in semiotic: icons, indexes, and symbols. This research also used a qualitative method because the researcher analyzed the data descriptively analysis to support the explanation of the analysis. There are 40 data found in this research. As the result, the researcher found the icons, indexes and symbols of funny sticker in Whatsapp Messenger, like when someone sent a sticker of people who laugh with the word "haha" it can give many options for the meaning, based on the context, gesture, and diction. There are several functions of stickers on WhatsApp that were found by researchers, such as emphasize expressions, emotions and clarifying their true meanings. Funny stickers emphasize expression and emotions to deliver the funny mood of WhatsApp users and semiotic theory, especially, icons, indexes, and symbols are helpful to find the real meaning of stickers in WhatsApp and make the meaning stronger than before.
