Abstract
Connotative meaning is a relatively unstable meaning. The connotative meaning cannot be determined and becomes free in the sense that it does not have a conceptual role. Therefore, research on the topic is necessary and interesting to do with research questions: 1) How is the connotative meaning of Raef’s song lyrics constructed in the perspective of Quranic values? 2) What types of connotative meaning of the Raef's song lyrics are related in perspective of Quranic values? This study uses descriptive qualitative methods and “content analysis” as a type of qualitative research because this type of research is in accordance with the research objective, namely analyzing the types and meanings of connotative words and phrases contained in Raef's song lyrics. The theory used from Cruse which states that there are three types of connotative meaning, namely; positive, negative and neutral. Based on the data analysis, the findings show that there were 33 types of connotative meaning found. There were positive connotations (15 data), negative connotations (14 data) and neutral connotations (4 data). Meanwhile, the values of the Qur'an in the connotative meaning of the song's lyrics were Aqidah (18 data), Akhlaq (9 data) and Syariah (6 data). From the findings of data analysis, it can be concluded that the most common types of connotative meanings were positive and negative connotations which contained hope from Allah as well as weak and hopeless soul included into Aqidah value.
