Abstract

Fashion influenced the development of the English language; especially new terms appear in fashion. English fashion terms is growing due to the influence of fashion. English fashion terms contained in the mass media. Examples: hijab tutorial books. The hijab tutorial book are the use of the English fashion terms in discourse of Indonesian text, either in the form of the hijab term itself, the trend language, or language commonly that is used by the Hijaber. Hijaber is the Muslim who uses hijab creations and into the hijaber community. One such book is a book that was written by a Hijaber Community in Jakarta, she is Inarovi with her the title book is Optimize Your Hijab Style Book. This book is very popular among the Hijaber Community. The data in this research are the sentences that containing the English fashion terms on Optimize Your Hijab Stye book and the Hijaber’s interpretation that interpreting about the use of English fashion terms in Optimize Your Hijab Style book. The problems that arise in this research are as follow: what are English fashion terms in Inarovi’s Optimize Your Hijab Style Book? what are the Hijaber’s Interpretations about English fashion terms in Inarovi’s Optimize Your Hijab Style Book? what are the Hijaber’s interpretation about the meanings of English fashion terms based on semantic approach? To answer all the problems of research, the researcher uses qualitative descriptive method to explain or describe the Hijaber interpretation about the use of the English fashion terms in Inarovi’s Optimize Your Hijab Style book through semantic analysis. Researcher also uses the grand theory of John I. Saeed and Chaer theory that using semantics to analyze description of lexical, grammatical and contextual meaning. The researcher also uses interpretation theory by Ricoeur theory and some supporting theories to analyze the data. The steps of research are collecting, categorizing and analyzing the data. Researcher is collecting the data by searching the terms contained in the book and is categorizing it into english fashion terms. After that, the Researcher has been conducted to distributing questionnaires and conducted interviews. After the data is collected, and the data is analyzed by semantic and interpretation theory, and then making a conclusion of data analysis. In collecting the data, the researcher used documentation, questionnaire, an interview guide. The result of this research found that there are two steps to found English fashion terms in Inarovi’s Optimize Your Hijab Style book as follow: 1) marking the data of English terms and 2) Categorizing of English fahion terms. The researcher found 55 English fashion terms in Inarovi’s Optimize Your Hijab Style book. The researcher also found 10 Hijabers as respondents based on respondents selection. 55 English fashion terms were analyzed based Hijabers interpretation, the researcher found 30 English fashion terms in Inarovi’s Optimize Your Hijab Style book that can be understood and interpreted by Hijabers with precentage 100% of 10 Hijabers interpretation data. 30 English fashion terms is analyzed based semantics meaning, the researcher found 3 kinds of meaning as follow; lexical, grammatical and contextual meaning from Hijabers interpretation. In the relation to the founding of meaning of Hijaber’s interpretation, the researcher found 3 kinds of meaning consisting of 23% of 68 data from 10 Hijabers interpretation data based on lexical meaning data, 16% of 48 from 9 Hijabers interpretation data based on grammatical meaning data and 61% of 164 from 10 Hijabers interpretation data based on contextual meaning data. Based on analysis of the data, the researcher concluded that the research analyzed 30 English fashion terms that can be understood and interpreted by Hijabers with precentage 100% of 10 Hijabers interpretation data. The Hijabers interpretation uses more contextual meaning on interpreting about the meaning of English fashion terms in Inarovi’s Optimize Your Hijab Style book that based on semantics approach consisting of lexical, grammatical and contextual meaning. For the next research, the researcher suggests to analyze the morphology process of English fashion terms and the researcher hopes there are would be another researcher who does experience and knowledge in other to make more complete and perfect.
