Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on the field of education, including the use of appropriate media for managing lessons and providing materials, as well as the usage of online class mode. A Learning Management System (LMS) is a program or website that allows you to deliver classes, gain knowledge, and manage your learning (Nguyen, 2020). The implementation of a learning management system (LMS) in the classroom can aid the learning process between teachers and students. The purpose of this study is to measure student perception with the usage of Google Classroom in translation classrooms and to investigate student involvement in translation course. This research was conducted using a qualitative method. The research design for this research is a case study. The case study is used to explain the results of observations about student involvement in the translation class through Google Classroom, which consists of three meetings, questionnaires, and interviews to determine students' perceptions and difficulties in using the LMS. The results of the observations show that there is student engagement in the translation class, between students and students, students and lecturers, and students with the material. The results of the questionnaire showed that 25 of 39 students were satisfied with using Google Classroom in their translation class because it was easy to use, made it easier for students to interact with other students and lecturers, and provided easy access to material. The interview data showed further information about the reasons for students' experiences and perceptions of using LMS. Students find it easy to interact with other students because the Translation (LMS) class has provided discussion boards and commentary features that help students interact with each other. There are also students who are dissatisfied with using LMS in the translation class because they often experience errors when opening using a cellphone and have difficulty getting a direct response from the lecturer, resulting in many student questions in the comments column being left unanswered.
