Abstract

In teaching learning process, teacher is the important aspect that gives some information, explanaion and knowledge to the students. Teaching can give the students various information in the world especially in teaching learning process at Education institute. By reading, the students can get some more information. But, the students aren’t having interest to read so that the students always get difficult and lazy especially in reading English text. Multisensory methods is one of the methods that can improve reading skill. The purpose of the research is finding out the following objectives: (1) to identify the students’ reading skill after being taught by multisensory method; (2) to identify the students’ reading skill after being taught by discussion method; (3) to identify the influence of multisensory method in improving student’s reading skill on students’ reading skill. To carry out this research, the experimental method was employed. In this case, two classes of students at eight of SMP ANNAJA Cipeundeuy had been chosen as the sample of population. furthermore, one class was treated as the experimental class, that was the students who were taught using multisensory method, and the other was treated as control class, that was the students who were taught by using discussion method. To know whether or not using multisensory method affects their students’ reading skill, the writer used analysis in both of the samples. The result of pre-test in experimental class and control class has no significant difference. Furthermore, there is significant difference of the result after applying post-test in both of class. It was shown that the mean score of the experimental class is 86, while the mean score of control class is 51.38. sThen from the analysis of correlation, it was known that tcount = 2.46 is higher than ttable =1.44. It means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. In other word, it can be said that the Hypothesis is significant and reliable. In conclusion, multisensory method have a big influence is 100% in students’ reading skill.
