Abstract

Writing is one of the complex skills in English learning. Writing became difficult skill for student in vocational school because they are lack of practices. There are some processes and strategies in writing a text. One of them is by using video that can help students create a text. The purpose of the research is to find out the significant influence of using video in students’ writing exposition text at grade twelve of SMK N 1 Gabuswetan-Indramayu. The method used in this research is experimental quantitative method and there is a treatment given. It takes two classes, experiment and control class. The data was taken through test of students’ writing before and after treatment. The treatment used video and it was given only in experimental class. The writing exposition text is about form of general meaning of exposition, generic structure, language feature and the steps of making exposition text. While using video is to make clear explanation about exposition with the sound, picture expression, and gesture in the video. After data was obtained by analysis, it is found that there is significant influence of student writing ability by using video. It’s proved by the result of the Gain analysis Rank. It can be seen from the hypothesis test that shows tcount = 3.24 while ttable = 1.65. Therefore, tcount is higher than ttable. It means that ha is accepted and ho is rejected. Moreover, the gain rank show of total for experiment and control class is 0.34 and 0.104. From the result of the research, it can be seen there is high influence enough between students’ writing by using video as audio visual media and without using video as audio visual media in teaching writing exposition test. From this reality, it was concluded that students’ writing at SMK N 1 Gabuswetan-Indramayu became improved. Therefore, it can be alternative technique to improve writing skill especially for teacher to use appropriate media in the process of teaching learning writing skill.
