Abstract

This paper discusses Women Discrimination Through Cinematic Language in Changeling (2008) Movie. Through the title of this research, it can be seen that the film Changeling (2008) directed by a man named Clint Eastwood is the object of this research. In this research, there are two questions. The first is the narrative point of view that emerges through cinematic language in Changeling (2008). Then second is how the issue of discrimination against women and politics appears in Changeling (2008) through cinematic language. This study uses point of view theory through cinematic language proposed by Petrie and Boggs (2008). The research methodology in this study uses descriptive qualitative. There are four points of view in cinematic language based on the theory put forward by Petrie and Boggs, namely the objective point of view, the subjective point of view, the indirect-subjective point of view, and the director's interpretive. Then analyze the data using the camera placement technique used at each point of view. In addition, there are cinematic elements as supporting theories in this study, including editing, camera movement, and lighting proposed by Muller (2003). In this study, it was found that the subjective point of view appeared with the highest number of the three other cinematic language points of view with a total of fourteen data and the number obtained by the objective point of view with a total of seven data. Then in examining the issue of discrimination against women, this study used the director's interpretive and found 7 data. The conclusion of this study is that with the emergence of subjective points of view as the largest number, the director in this film invites the audience to get involved in the story situation. Then on the issue of discrimination against women, the director places himself naturally even though he is a man.
