Abstract
Tragedy has it’s unique characteristics which differ it to the other genre. The researcher analyses a drama entitled “Arcane” (2021) which was released on Netflix and becoming a popular work. The story told conflict between sisters in a dystopian society, where the story ended up tragically. How things always ended up in tragedy when it could’ve been better. There are two discussions in this research; 1. How is Aristotle’s tragedy characteristic depicted in Arcane’s plot?, 2) What are Arcane character’s tragic flaw which lead to a tragic ending?. For analyzing this research, the researcher uses qualitative methodology would be suitable for literature research such as the one that was used in this study. This is due to the fact that the methodology utilizes data with explanations in the form of words as opposed to statistics, as is the case in other types of research. Then the researcher uses the theories tragic hero from Aristotle for revealing the problem. The researcher finds several ways to collect and to analyze data like watching the series first, identifying the problem, categorizing the problem, then getting two problems as result to be analyzed. The result of analyzing, the researcher finds characteristics and hamartia is depicted throughout the series therefore making this a work of tragedy. The character is shown with fatal flaws and story is filled with inevitable tragic fate.
