Abstract

Since many people use two or more languages on a daily basis, code mixing and code switching happen during communication. This phenomenon spreads through society as a trend or way of speaking. Sociolinguistics also examines this fashion. Therefore, the primary goals of this study are to (1) determine the various kinds of code switching and code mixing that Gitasav employs. (2) What is the purpose of Gitasav's code switching and code mixing in his speech? The author of this study employed a qualitative methodology to address the issue. The study's focus was on the comments made by Pagi-Pagi: Opini Kami Tentang LGBT, Hijrah, Politik, dan Travel on Gitasav's YouTube channel. The movie was the Gitasav YouTube channel's longest video. The primary findings of this study were the varieties of code switching and code mixing that Gitasav employed, along with his motivations. According to the study's findings, (1) Gitasav frequently mixed intra-sentential code. She used English words in sentences that were spoken in Indonesian. Along with code mixing, she also used code switching. The kind of code switching and code mixing that Gitasav employed helped to determine why she did so. Gitasav's 8 reasons for using code switching and code mixing, as determined by the results, are as follows: (1) Discussing a subject for 21 times; (2) quoting someone else; (3) emphasizing something for 16 times; (4) interjecting seven times; (5) repeating; (6) attempting to make the speech content clear for the listener. because of a lexical need, 3 times (7)expressing group identity, and 8 times (8)
