Abstract

Nowadays, swear words are phenomenal. Sometimes, people used swear words to attack or to express their emotions which can cause a trouble. In modern era someone used swear words not only to attack or to mock someone when they are angry, but also they used of swear words to jokes around or habit in their daily communication. This condition occurred because the appearance of language attitude component on it. It is included into sociolinguistic study in linguistic field. This research deals with the component of language attitude on swear word that appeared in movie. It is analyzed to prove the way of every component of language attitude on swear word that spoken in the dialogue of the movie by classified the kind of swear word and analyzed the cause of the appearance of language attitude components on it. They are: Cognitive, Affective and Behavioral. To find out the problem, this research used the method of descriptive qualitative analysis. The source data was taken from Dangerous Mind movie. For technique of analysis data, the researcher used Miles and Huberman model which divided into three steps; data reduction, data display based on the theory of kind of swear word by Wardhaugh and Language attitude component by Lambert and the last is drawing conclusion. The findings showed that there are eleven words which influenced by cognitive component because it based on understanding and knowledge. Then, there are fourteen words which influenced by affective component by showing some expression because it component based on emotion or feeling of the speaker. And the last, seventeen words taken as a data for behavioral component because it is based on habitual action, which comprehends the tendency to behave in a certain way toward the attitude.
