Abstract
Syntax is the linguistic discipline that investigates how words and phrases are combined to form a sentence in a language. The analysis of syntax can be done in any English text included in the translation of Quran Surah Yusuf by Sahih International. The writer found that there are several noun phrases that use modifiers in it. So, the writer restricts the analysis based on the gap discovered by developing two problem formulations; (1) the kinds of modifiers in noun phrases in the translation of QS Yusuf (2) the noun phrases constructed with a post-modifier (prepositional phrase) as subject, object. The researcher found 366 data consisting of 294 pre-modifiers and 72 post-modifiers. There are 65 prepositional phrases as post-modifiers, including 14 noun phrases that serve in the subject function, 22 fill in the object, 19 noun phrases that act as the subject complement and a noun phrase fill object complement in the translation of Qur’an Surah Yusuf by Sahih International.
