Abstract

Improvement curriculum as a step to get purpose of national education. Implementation of 2013 curriculum not as expected, so government has revision on the 2013 curriculum to 2013 curriculum revised. The 2013 curriculum revised started to apply in the academic year 2017/2018. This study aims to describe: (a) The teacher perception of the 2013 revised curriculum and (b) to find out the problem affected by curriculum 2013 revised from teacher view. The participant is a teacher in MTS Negeri Medan. The researcher took the qualitative method with data collection using the interview technique. The data analysis shows that every teacher has different perceptions towards curriculum 2013 revised in terms of implementation, administration, and method. Thevperception is based on the real condition in the school. Several problems are affected by curriculum 2013 revised that need to be evaluated by the teacher, stakeholder, and government. There are some research findings: (1) Implementation of the revised 2013 curriculum requires teachers to integrate character content in each lesson, following the vision and mission of each school and region. The 2013 curriculum emphasizes the achievement of student competencies in knowledge and learning in attitudes and skills. In the 2013 curriculum, the thing that stands out the most is the learning approach. The approach in the 2013 curriculum is a scientific approach or commonly known also with the term scientific approach. The scientific approach consists of observing, asking, trying, reasoning, and communicating. (2) Factors causing teacher difficulties are lack of understanding of the revised 2013 Curriculum, Still learning and adapting to the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum due to new implementation, lack of training to improve teacher understanding of the 2013 Curriculum, and minimal facilities to support the implementation of K13.
