Abstract

INDONESIA: Pesatnya industrialisasi yang diikuti urbanisasi serta penggunaan jangka panjang dari pupuk anorganik dan pestisida meningkatkan potensi kontaminasi logam berat pada tanaman padi, demikian pula jerami padi. Maka untuk mengolah limbah jerami padi serta kadar logam berat di dalamnya, dapat digunakan teknik vermicomposting. Vermicomposting adalah suatu teknik pengomposan yang menggunakan cacing tanah dan mikroorganisme untuk mengurai bahan limbah menjadi produk yang disebut vermikompos. Vermikompos dapat dimanfaatkan untuk tanaman sebagai pupuk organik yang tentunya memiliki standar mutu tersendiri, salah satunya terkait dengan kadar logam berat karena dapat bersifat toksik terhadap tanaman. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh rasio komposisi media terhadap kadar logam berat pada vermikompos serta mengetahui hubungannya dengan parameter fisik-kimia vermikompos, tingkat kelangsungan hidup cacing dan degradasi limbah. Limbah jerami padi (JP) dicampurkan dengan kotoran sapi (KS) dalam lima kelompok perlakuan sebagai berikut: P1/Kontrol (100% KS), P2 (90% KS + 10% JP), P3 (70% KS + 30% JP), P4 (50% KS + 50% JP) dan P5 (100% JP), dalam massa 350 g dan cacing Eisenia fetida dengan bobot total 8,75 g/vermibin. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kadar logam berat baik Cu maupun Zn pada vermikompos dari setiap perlakuan dikategorikan dalam jumlah yang aman karena memenuhi standar mutu SNI 19-7030-2004 untuk pupuk organik yaitu ≤ 100 ppm untuk Cu dan ≤ 500 ppm untuk Zn. Selain itu, kondisi fisik-kimia, kelangsungan hidup cacing tanah dan proses degradasi limbah organik saling berkaitan satu sama lain dan berpengaruh terhadap ketersediaan kadar logam berat dalam vermikompos. ENGLISH: Rapid industrialization followed by urbanization and long-term use of inorganic fertilizers and pesticides increase the potential for heavy metal contamination of rice plants, as well as rice straw. So to treat rice straw waste and the heavy metal levels in it, a vermicomposting technique can be used. Vermicomposting is a composting technique that uses earthworms and microorganisms to break down waste materials into a product called vermicompost. Vermicompost can be used for plants as organic fertilizer which of course has its own quality standards, one of which is related to heavy metal levels because it can be toxic to plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of media composition ratio on heavy metal levels in vermicompost and to determine its relationship with physico-chemical parameters of vermicompost, worm survival rate and waste degradation. Rice straw (RS) was mixed with cow dung (CD) in five treatment groups as follows: P1/Control (100% CD), P2 (90% CD + 10% RS), P3 (70% CD + 30% RS), P4 (50% CD + 50% RS) and P5 (100% RS), in a media mass of 350 g and Eisenia fetida worms with a total weight of 8.75 g/vermibin. Based on the results of the study, heavy metal levels of both Cu and Zn in vermicompost from each treatment are categorized in safe amounts because they meet the quality standards of SNI 19-7030-2004 for organic fertilizers, namely ≤ 100 ppm for Cu and ≤ 500 ppm for Zn. In addition, physical-chemical conditions, earthworm survival and organic waste degradation processes are interrelated with each other and affect the availability of heavy metal levels in vermicompost.
