Abstract
Song is something close with human life in the world; children, teenager and man. They listen to the song almost every day. A song is supported by lyrics. Thus, the song writer and listeners can feel and enjoy the song. The aim of this research is to understand the love expression by focusing on the gender inequality through love songs. The writer tries to find out how males and females express their love feeling in lyrics. It includes males and females expressions relating to the masculinity and femininity. In expressing love, they have different ways, and they relate to the masculinity and femininity of language and gender. This research used qualitative method and it would describe all the data regarding to the love song lyrics. The technique to select the data is purposive sampling. The result of this research shows the differences on how male song writers express their feeling by using impolite form, while female’s song writers tend to express their feelings by using adjective form. On the other hand, the similarities between both of them are on their ways of arranging the word romantically. Another result shows that masculinity and femininity is just a choice, it means that male can be feminine and female can be masculine to express something like love.
