Speaking is important for conveying impressions, ideas, and ways to connect verbally with others who speak various languages. In learning speaking, students have a broad option of method to choose, and one of them is role-play or drama. All students have an equal opportunity to participate in the learning process while using the drama technique. In class, every student is engaged in conversation in English. The findings indicate that the students believe that they communicate with strong self-confidence. They shows positive attitude in line with self-confidence characteristics. Five students perceive that the social environment and learning process also boost their confidence. This result is consistent with their English drama performance, which show that all of them were rated as having good levels based of speaking fluency and pronunciation. The analysis shows their fluency and pronunciation aspect are in good condition during the performance. Their fluency and pronunciation along with their confidence are developed through the rehearsal and practice during the drama course. In conlusion, this study's findings indicate that drama can help students develop their English speaking skills, especially in terms of fluency, pronunciation, and self-confidence. it is reflected from the students positive perceptions of their confidence and the fair outcomes of their speaking ability analysis. This study also recommend for teachers to adopt role-play as method for teaching speaking in ELT to improve students’ speaking ability and confidence. In addition, other researcher may conduct further research on the same issue of student speaking skills and their confidence.
