Abstract

A representative is a type of illocutionary act performed by a speaker to express a situation in which the speaker believes. All actions belonging to representative illocutionary acts can be assessed on the dimensions of judgment, which include right and wrong. Therefore, the researcher feels interested and finds it necessary to conduct research on this topic with the research question: 1. What types of representative illocutionary acts are found in the Johnny’s Communication Center (JCC) on NCT Daily YouTube Channel? 2. How are the representative illocutionary acts conveyed in the Johnny’s Communication Center (JCC) on NCT Daily YouTube Channel? This research used a qualitative method, and the main theory used was from Searle's (1979) theory. Based on the data analysis, the findings showed that the type of representative illocutionary acts were stating (29 data), reporting (26 data), suggesting (9 data), complaining (7 data), and concluding (4 data). Besides, the representative illocutionary acts were conveyed directly (46 data) and indirectly (29 data). Hence, it can be concluded that among the five types of representative illocutionary acts, the type of stating and the directly conveyed were the most dominantly used in Johnny's Communication Center (JCC) on the NCT Daily YouTube Channel. This type and method of conveying were the most dominant because the video content in the program showed Johnny’s activities as an NCT member, which were packaged in a vlog. Thus, Johnny and the NCT members often expressed opinions that they believed in and conveyed them clearly, without any hidden meanings.
