Abstract

ENGLISH : This research focuses on finding the types of signs that refer to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and also represents how Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is represented in the film Smile. The theory used is Charles Sander Pierce's theory with his trichotomy theory which includes Representament, Object, and Interpretant. The method used in the research is descriptive qualitative. This descriptive qualitative relies on text and image data. The data used were 13 data in the form of images and transcripts. The final results of this research are Representament consisting of Qualisign with 4 data, Legisign with 1 data, and Sinsign with 8 data. Then the Object consists of an Icon with 7 data, an Index with 9 data, and a Symbol with 3 data. The last one is the Interpretant which consists of Rheme with 6 data, Decisign with 4 data, and Argument with 3 data. Based on the analysis of the types of signs that appear in the film "Smile", there is a representation of the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder experienced by the character Rose. These symptoms include Re-Experience (re-experience of traumatic events), Avoidance (avoidance of events or situations that cause trauma), and Hyperarousal (high levels of alertness and anxiety). The results of the analysis found that 7 data were indicating Re-Experience, 3 data indicating Avoidance, and 3 data indicating Hyperarousal. With this analysis, it can be understood how trauma is represented, interpreted, and processed in a person's thoughts and emotions through various signs. INDONESIA : Penelitian ini berfokus untuk menemukan jenis tanda-tanda yang merujuk pada Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, dan juga merepresentasikan bagaimana Post Traumatic Stress Disorder direpresentasikan dalam fillm Smile. Teori yang digunakan yaitu teori Charles Sander Pierce dengan teori trikotominya yang meliputi Representament, Object dan Interpretant. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Kualitatif deskriptif ini mengandalkan data teks dan gambar. Data yang digunakan sebanyak 13 data berupa gambar dan transcript. The final result on this reseach are Representament terdiri dari Qualisign dengan 4 data, Legisign dengan 1 data dan Sinsign dengan 8 data. Kemudian Objek terdiri dari Ikon dengan 7 data, Indeks dengan 9 data dan Simbol dengan 3 data. Dan yang terakhir adalah Interpretant yang terdiri dari Rheme dengan 6 data, Dicisign dengan 4 data, dan Argument dengan 3 data. Berdasarkan analisis jenis tanda yang muncul dalam film "Smile", terdapat representasi dari gejala Post Traumatic Stress Disorder yang dialami oleh tokoh Rose. Gejala tersebut meliputi Re-Experience (pengalaman kembali peristiwa traumatis), Avoidance (penghindaran terhadap peristiwa atau situasi yang menyebabkan trauma), dan Hyperarousal (tingkat kewaspadaan dan kecemasan yang tinggi). Hasil analisis menemukan bahwa terdapat 7 data yang mengindikasikan Re-Experience, 3 data yang mengindikasikan Avoidance, dan 3 data yang mengindikasikan Hyperarousal. Dengan analisis tersebut dapat dipahami bagaimana trauma direpresentasikan, diinterpretasikan dan diproses dalam pikiran dan emosi seseorang melalui berbagai tanda.
