Abstract
ENGLISH : Local rice plant has an important value as a source of germplasm in plant breeding programs. Local rice selection is carried out as an effort to obtain germplasm with high yield potential. The purpose of this study was to select local rice based on variability and heritability values and performance based on yield components. The method used in this study was a randomized block design with 8 accessions of medium plain local rice from Garut. The results showed wide genotypic and phenotypic variability on characters of plant height, number of panicles per clump, flowering age, and number of grain per clump. The high heritability value was also found in the characters of plant height, flowering time, and number of grain per clump. The results of selection showed Apud accessions have high yield potential based on the appearance of the characters of plant height, number of panicles per clump, flowering time, and number of grain per clump.
