Abstract

INDONESIA: Kulit merupakan bagian terluar tubuh yang mampu mengeluarkan keringat. Keringat sering disalahartikan sebagai penyebab bau badan, padahal pada dasarnya bau tak sedap berasal dari bakteri pada kulit yang berkembang biak menghasilkan asam yang dikenal sebagai bau badan. Bromhidrosis atau bau badan merupakan permasalahan kulit yang sering dijumpai akibat adanya bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis yang memecah protein dalam keringat. Sediaan yang berpotensi membunuh dan menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri tersebut adalah sabun antibakteri. Sifat antibakteri dapat diperoleh dari minyak atsiri biji ketumbar (Coriandrum sativum). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kualitas sabun padat transparan dengan penambahan minyak atsiri biji ketumbar, aktivitas antibakteri, dan karakteristik sensoriknya. Minyak atsiri diperoleh melalui metode destilasi Stahl untuk kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam formulasi sabun dengan variasi konsentrasi 0.5% (SK1), 1.5% (SK2), 2.5% (SK3), 3.5% (SK4), dan 4.5% (SK5). Sabun yang dihasilkan kemudian diuji kualitasnya berdasarkan SNI 3532:2021, uji antibakteri terhadap S. epidermidis dengan metode difusi cakram serta uji organoleptik terhadap 25 panelis tak terlatih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan minyak atsiri biji ketumbar mempengaruhi kualitas dan aktivitas antibakteri secara nyata. Nilai pH, kadar air, bahan tak larut etanol, dan alkali bebas sabun padat transparan telah memenuhi standar, namun belum untuk nilai total lemak yang kurang dari 60%. Sabun padat transparan dengan aktivitas antibakteri paling baik diperlihatkan dengan daya hambat terhadap S. epidermidis sebesar 21,46 mm pada sabun variasi SK2. Penambahan minyak atsiri biji ketumbar pada sabun padat transparan tidak menunjukan perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap karakteristik sensoris sabun berdasarkan parameter warna, tekstur, dan aroma. ENGLIAH: The skin is the outermost part of the body that is capable of sweating. Sweat is often misinterpreted as the cause of body odor, even though basically bad odor comes from bacteria on the skin which multiply to produce acids known as body odor. Bromhidrosis is an unpleasant body odor that is often experienced by humans. That caused by Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria which breaks down protein in sweat. Things that have the potential to kill and inhibit the growth of these bacteria are antibacterial soaps. Antibacterial properties can be obtained from the essential oil of coriander seeds (Coriandrum sativum). This study aims to analyze the quality of transparent solid soap with the addition of coriander seed essential oil, its antibacterial activity, and sensory characteristics. Essential oils were obtained through the Stahl distillation method and then added to the soap formulation with various concentrations of 0.5% (SK1), 1.5% (SK2), 2.5% (SK3), 3.5% (SK4), dan 4.5% (SK5). The resulting soap was then tested for its quality based on SNI 3532:2021, an antibacterial test on S. epidermidis using the disc diffusion method and an organoleptic test on 25 untrained panelists. The results showed that the addition of coriander seed essential oil significantly affected the quality and antibacterial activity. The pH value, water content, ethanol insoluble material, and transparent solid soap-free alkali met the standards, but not for the total fat value of less than 60%. Transparent solid soap with the best antibacterial activity was shown with an inhibition of S. epidermidis of 21.46 mm in the SK2 variety of soap. The addition of coriander seed essential oil to transparent solid soap did not show a significant difference in the sensory characteristics of the soap based on the parameters of color, texture, and scent.
