Abstract
The times have brought South Korean culture into Indonesia through technology so that it raises the potential for lifestyle changes and values held by society, such as choosing a mate. Single early adult individuals who still like idols are often associated with their self-esteem. This study examines the relationship between celebrity worship and self-esteem with mate preferences of early adult K-Pop fans using a correlational quantitative approach involving 546 respondents aged 18-25 years, fans of NCT group for at least 1 year and following @nctzenhalu Twitter account. Non-probability sampling technique is used with convenience sampling method. The hypothesis tested using Spearman correlation analysis and further with non-parametric multiple linear regression tests. The results of the study found that there was a relationship between celebrity worship and mate preferences with correlation coefficient of .141 and self- esteem with mate preferences with correlation coefficient of .183. The regression test found that both variables partially had a positive effect on mate preferences and together contributed a significant positive effect of 5.8%. Perkembangan zaman membawa budaya Korea Selatan ke dalam Indonesia melalui teknologi sehingga memunculkan potensi perubahan gaya hidup serta nilai yang dipegang oleh masyarakat, seperti menentukan pasangan hidup. Individu dewasa awal lajang yang masih menggemari idola tidak jarang dikaitkan dengan harga dirinya. Studi ini meneliti hubungan antara celebrity worship dan harga diri dengan preferensi pasangan hidup penggemar K-Pop dewasa awal menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional yang melibatkan 546 responden berusia 18-25 tahun, penggemar grup NCT selama minimal 1 tahun dan mengikuti akun Twitter @nctzenhalu. Teknik non-probability sampling digunakan dengan metode convenience sampling. Hipotesis diuji dengan analisis korelasi Spearman dan uji lanjutan regresi linier berganda nonparametrik. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara celebrity worship dengan preferensi pasangan hidup sebesar .141 dan harga diri dengan preferensi pasangan hidup sebesar .183. Uji regresi menemukan kedua variabel secara parsial berpengaruh positif terhadap preferensi pasangan hidup dan secara bersama-sama menyumbangkan pengaruh positif yang signifikan sebesar 5.8%.
