Abstract

Pada tahun 2023 Indonesia dipercaya sebagai lokasi penyelenggara Piala Dunia U-20, sebuah ajang kejuaraan kelompok umur di bawah 20 tahun yang diadakan oleh FIFA setiap dua tahun sekali. Sebelum perhelatan piala dunia U20 di Indonesia mulai bergulir, terjadi insiden penolakan yang memunculkan kontroversi dan menarik perhatian luas di media massa. Timnas Israel U-20 yang telah melewati fase kualifikasi regional Eropa ditolak partisipasinya oleh berbagai pihak dalam turnamen yang dihelat di Indonesia. Insiden penolakan Timnas Israel U-20 yang terjadi pada bulan Maret 2023 menjadi berita utama di semua portal media, baik media konvensional maupun media olahraga di Indonesia. Salah satu media terkemuka seperti Kompas.com tidak luput dalam memberitakan peristiwa ini. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana cara media Kompas.com dan membingkai pemberitaan penolakan Timnas Israel U-20 menggunakan 4 elemen dari model analisis framing Zhongdang Pan dan Gerald M Kosicki yakni struktur sintaksis, struktur skrip, struktur tematik dan struktur retoris. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode analisis framing. Objek yang diteliti pada penelitian ini adalah berita tragedi Kanjuruhan edisi Maret 2023 yang dipublikasikan media online Kompas.com. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa Kompas.com secara cermat dan seimbang dalam mengkonstruksi kerangka berita terkait penolakan Timnas Israel U-20. Kompas.com memaparkan sudut pandang pro menolak Israel U-20 dikarenakan komitmen Bung Karno tidak mengakui Israel sebagai negara dan kontra terhadap penolakan partisipasi Timnas Israel U-20 dikarenakan Indonesia telah ditunjuk menjadi tuan rumah sehingga tidak boleh menolak keikutsertaan suatu negara. ENGLISH : In 2023, Indonesia was entrusted with hosting the FIFA U-20 World Cup, a youth championship for those under 20 years of age held every two years. However, before the U-20 World Cup event kicked off in Indonesia, an incident of rejection occurred, causing controversy and widespread media attention. The Israel U-20 national team, which had successfully navigated the European regional qualifiers, was denied participation in the tournament held in Indonesia. This rejection incident, which took place in March 2023, became headline news on various media platforms, including both conventional and sports media outlets in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to understand how Kompas.com framed the coverage of the rejection of the Israel U-20 national team using Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki's model of framing analysis, which includes four elements: syntactic structure, script structure, thematic structure, and rhetorical structure. This study, following a constructivist paradigm, employs a qualitative approach and framing analysis methodology. The subject of this research is the news coverage of the Kanjuruhan tragedy in the March 2023 edition published on the online media platform Kompas.com. The results of this research reveal that Kompas.com was meticulous and balanced in constructing the news framework related to the rejection of the Israel U-20 national team. Kompas.com presented a pro-rejection perspective due to Sukarno's commitment not to recognize Israel as a state and a counter-perspective against rejecting the participation of the Israel U-20 national team because Indonesia had been chosen as the host country and thus should not refuse the participation of any nation.
