Abstract

Horror has existed as a genre for more than a century and loved by many ages in this era. This research focuses on finding out monster/evil character in the horror fiction and finding out the similaritiest and differencies between horror formula on both of the works, movie Insidious and novel Danur. This research used comparative literature method with qualitative used as the method of analysis. Theory of horror Thacker (2011) and King is used in analyzing this research. Based on the findings, there are five types of evil creature portrayed in Insidious movie and three types of evil creature portrayed in Danur novel. Then, the second finding in this research which is the similarities and differences between horror formula in Insidious movie and Danur novel : there are two differences and one similarities.
