Abstract

English has a crucial position in education in Indonesia and is a compulsory subject from elementary school to university level. From the results of temporary observations, English is influenced by several reasons and limitations. For example, students' interest in learning, low average student ability, lack of accountability for assignments, and the perception that English is still too difficult to learn, especially vocabulary mastery, are factors that cause this. They can lose interest in learning and get bored quickly, making study time very short even though they still have difficulty learning English vocabulary. To overcome this, there are many ways to practice English vocabulary, such as learning with using Video YouTube. One of the YouTube channels that can be used for learning English is the Mr.D channel. This research aims to determine students' vocabulary mastery before using the YouTube video method. Second, to find out students' vocabulary mastery after using Video YouTube method. Third, to find out whether there are significant differences before and after using Video youTube method for grade 8 students at MTs Darul Amira Ciamis. Meanwhile, the research method used in this research uses a quantitative research model, where the approach used in the research is a population or sample with data collection techniques carried out using written tests in the form of multiple choice questions and documentation. The type of research carried out by the researcher was a field study at MTs Darul Amira. The results of this research show that students' vocabulary mastery before using Video YouTube method with students' pre-test scores showing a minimum score of 13, and a maximum score of 21. The average score is 16.91 with a standard deviation of 2.389. Meanwhile, the results of students' vocabulary mastery scores after learning using the YouTube video method showed a minimum score of 65, and a maximum score of 85. The average score obtained was 75.05 with a standard deviation of 5.988. Meanwhile, statistical data calculations show the average results of students on the pre-test with a score of 43.54, and 89.79 on the post-test. So, calculations on the post-test and pre-test scores show that there is a significant increase in mastery of English knowledge between before using YouTube videos and after using YouTube videos.
