Abstract
The advancement of technology has paved the way for innovative solutions in the healthcare sector, especially in resource-limited areas like Somalia. This study focuses on the development and implementation of a Web-Based Online Medicine Delivery System to address the challenges faced by the traditional medicine delivery system in the country. The research methodology involved a comprehensive needs assessment and workflow analysis specifically tailored to meet the requirements of Moumin Pharma and Healthcare, a private healthcare provider operating in Somalia. The system's design and development were based on an iterative and incremental approach, combining elements of Agile and Waterfall methodologies, ensuring close collaboration with stakeholders and continuous feedback throughout the development process. Findings related to the Web-Based Online Medicine Delivery System indicate a significant increase in accessibility to medications for patients. The system's user-friendly interface and efficient order processing streamlined the medication ordering process, resulting in faster and more convenient medication deliveries. Additionally, real-time order tracking and improved inventory management have contributed to minimizing stockouts and ensuring timely replenishment of stock. The study also reveals positive outcomes related to user satisfaction and efficiency of the system. Feedback from healthcare professionals and patients indicates high satisfaction with the system's functionality and design. The implementation of the system has reduced processing and delivery times, leading to improved treatment adherence and health outcomes. Moreover, increased patient engagement through direct access to medication information has fostered a patient-centred approach to healthcare. In conclusion, the Development of the Web-Based Online Medicine Delivery System has significantly enhanced healthcare delivery in Somalia. By increasing accessibility, streamlining processes, and improving medication management, the system has emerged as a transformative tool in overcoming challenges faced by the traditional medicine delivery system. The research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on technology-driven healthcare solutions in resource-limited settings.
