Abstract
This research aims to analyzes compound word on scientific and technological terms based on its type, form, and meaning of compound. The data of this research was taken from Elon Musk’s selected interviews. The researcher applied qualitative method to analyze the data because the data was not in the form of number but in the form of word. To analyze compound words, the researcher applied McCarthy’s theory of types of compound, O’grady & Archibald’s theory of forms of compound, and Libben’s theory combined with Haspelmath & Sims’s theory of meaning of compound. The writer took 69 data of scientific and technological terms used in Elon Musk’s utterances during the interviews. The result of the study shows compound word mostly used to define the product of technology or finding of science resulting noun compound dominates the type of compound on science and technological terms followed by adjective compound and verb compound. Then, compound words on scientific and technological terms usually appear in the form of open compound if no hyphen appears in each of the original forms. Furthermore, In case of compound’s meaning, it is found that compound word on scientific and technological terms are dominated by fully transparent where the meaning are understood literally followed by partially opaque and fully opaque.
