Abstract

Political violence, a prevalent global phenomenon, serves as the backdrop for this analysis. The study investigates how the game's narrative, visuals, and symbols communicate the idea of political violence to players, comparing these representations to real-world instances. This research contributes to our understanding of how video games engage with complex political themes and their potential to stimulate political discourse and awareness. This study used qualitative research. Drawing on previous studies that utilized Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, the research applies a similar approach to analyze signs reflecting political violence in "Suikoden II." By employing the interactive model analysis method proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, the study presents a structured and comprehensive analysis. This research offers insights into the nuanced world of video game communication, shedding light on how games like "Suikoden II" convey complex societal issues and engage players in meaningful discourse.
