Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out perceptions of English subject in private junior high school in the Kurikulum 2013 and Kurikulum Merdeka. Then, investigates how teachers apply the Kurikulum 2013 and Kurikulum Merdeka in the classroom. Nontheless, the standard of content, process, and assessment of both curriculum are the research limitations. A qualitative research design was used in the study. The questionnaire and interview were used to get the data of teacher perceptions; while, to find out the implementation used the observation and interview. Moreover, the participants of this research are four teachers from two different junior high schools in Bandung. After shared the questionnaire and do the interview to four teachers, this current research reveals that perception teachers are positive in the process, content, and assessment standard of the Kurikulum 2013. It argues that the curriculum is easy to use because teachers are already used to it. Meanwhile, The participants had positive perceptions of the process, content, and standard of assessment of the Kurikulum Merdeka. Teachers also saids they faced several challenge in use both of curriculum in clasroom. However, after do the observation and interview examines in the implementation in the classroom, the Kurikulum 2013 is going well, while in the Kurikulum Merdeka must be improved. Lastly, the challenge is founded in the implementation of both curriculums. Based on the result, the perception of teachers for the Kurikulum 2013 and Kurikulum Merdeka is both of curriculums helps them in the teaching process and give positive response. Moreover, in implementing the Kurikulum 2013 in the teaching process, most teachers are better able to implement it. On the other hand, teachers must improve in implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka. In addition, the teacher must adapt to technology in teaching. Then, the government and the curriculum makers must increase the human resources and facilities before making the curriculum. Lastly, future researchers should give more time and find new challenges in this topic.
