Abstract

ENGLISH : This study elaborates on the depiction of discrimination and its impact due to multiracial identity as reflected in Sarah Lampert's film series Ginny & Georgia (2021). The study aims to reveal the form of racial discrimination experienced by the main character of the film and to reveal the impact of discrimination due to having a multiracial identity. The study used a descriptive qualitative method and an intrinsic approach using the paradigm of Edgar V. Roberts, and also using the theory of racism by Camara P. Jones (2000). From the data, it is found that the form or types of racial discrimination of Ginny, a main multiracial character are: Institutionalized Racism, Internalized Racism, and Personally mediated racism. The institutionalized racism became the most types experienced by Ginny with 6 out of 11 data reveal, 3 data show personally mediated racism, and 2 data internalized racism became the least of discrimination types. Meanwhile, for the impact of discrimination to Ginny as a multiracial character are: feeling of insecurity, selfharm, and lack of support. The latest, lack of support became the most common impact experienced by multiracial individuals, as exemplified by Ginny character in the film series. INDONESIA : Kajian ini mengelaborasi penggambaran diskriminasi dan dampaknya akibat identitas multiras yang tercermin dalam film serial Sarah Lampert, Ginny & Georgia (2021). Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengungkap bentuk diskriminasi rasial yang dialami oleh tokoh utama film dan mengungkap dampak diskriminasi akibat memiliki identitas multiras. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan pendekatan intrinsik yang menggunakan paradigma Edgar V. Roberts serta, menggunakan teori rasisme Camara P. Jones (2000). Dari data tersebut diketahui bahwa bentuk atau jenis diskriminasi rasial yang dilakukan Ginny, tokoh utama multiras adalah; Rasisme yang Dilembagakan, Rasisme yang Diinternalisasi, dan Rasisme yang dimediasi secara pribadi. Rasisme yang dilembagakan menjadi jenis yang paling banyak dialami Ginny dengan terungkapnya 6 dari 11 data. 3 data menunjukkan rasisme yang dimediasi secara personal, dan 2 data menunjukkan rasisme yang terinternalisasi menjadi jenis diskriminasi terendah. Sedangkan dampak diskriminasi terhadap Ginny sebagai karakter multiras adalah; perasaan tidak aman, menyakiti diri sendiri, dan kurangnya dukungan. Yang terbaru, kurangnya dukungan menjadi dampak paling umum yang dialami oleh individu multiras, seperti yang dicontohkan oleh karakter Ginny di film seris tersebut.
